Our Mission
Giving birth is a dangerous business for Haiti's population, who suffer the highest maternal mortality rate in the Western Hemisphere. Some 630 of every 100,000 women died of pregnancy-related causes in 2006 -- more than five times the Latin American and Caribbean average, according to the United Nations."
Founded in 2009, IWISH (International Women & Infant Sustainable Healthcare) is a tax-exempt entity organized exclusively for charitable, medical and educational purposes, to provide resources to women and children in underdeveloped communities with the ultimate goal of improved and sustainable healthcare for these constituencies.
In the early 2000s, Dr. Dree Stryker joined with the Goodness & Mercy Foundation and traveled to Nigeria to setup a medical clinic. They brought in medical technology and trained the local professionals in the area. After the group left, medications were still provided to the staff and would be prescribed by a Nigerian Doctor in their absence. It was on this Mission that Dr. Dree Stryker decided she wanted to continue the effort of bringing sustainability to more communities.
